Grand Turk, the easternmost of the Turks and Caicos necklace of islands is the reputed landfall of Columbus and was visited by Juan Ponce de Leon on his search for the fountain of youth. Its capital Cockbourn Town’s historic 18th and 19th century Bermudian architecture, narrow streets, old street lamps and 20th century red telephone booths are part of the many features that make it the quintessential British West Indies outpost. Today it welcomes over 1 million cruise visitors drawn in by the history as much as its idyllic natural beauty, rich marine heritage, and teaming underwater life.
